Our Single Vineyard Wines
Rockpile has proven ideal for the development of our 10 distinctly different hillside vineyards. Rockpile Wines are everything you'd expect: intense, powerful and complex. We are extremely proud to be the largest grower and producer of Rockpile wines.
Briary dark fruit, smoked meat and hints of subtle oak punctuate the nose of this wine. On the entry there is both power and grace in the phenomenal tannin structure and the focus the wine retains. The brooding nature of the fruit is apparent as are the complex layers that this wine has to reveal. Wild berry, graphite and hints of herb are complemented by notes of roasted coffee.
Fresh raspberry and baked blackberry cobbler exemplify the dichotomy of this wine: it is both lively and subtle, graceful and yet powerful.
The rich entry explodes with dried red fruit followed by hints of espresso grounds and graham cracker. Firm tannins overlay the incredible ripe and rich fruit that our Jack’s Cabin Zinfandel offers.
There is both concentration and power. Black cherry and hints of black pepper coalesce into rich notes of baked cobbler in the mid-palate. The lush tannins and bright acid mesh perfectly, showing the wine’s aging potential there is both concentration and power.
The wine is lush and full, showing seamless tannins. Explosive fresh blackberry is accented by more complex flavors of wild lavender, mineral and Provencal herbs.
Bing cherry, wild flowers, and mineral jump out of the glass. On the palate, flavors of crushed raspberry are complemented by nuances of roasted coffee and earthen spice.
A rare blend of power and finesse, this vintage features a small amount of co-fermented Viognier, enhancing the aromatics, texture and rustic Syrah flavors.
Aromas of herbal tea, pencil lead and mulberry blend seamlessly with sweet oak.
On the entry the wine is round and full, yet it retains its balance, showing a measure of finesse through the finish. Anise, espresso grounds and black cherry coat the palate in glorious fashion. The tannins are velvety but still have enough weight to sustain 8+ years of aging.
Flavors of black currant, blackberry and dark chocolate jump out of the glass. Focused on the entry, this wine has great weight without being clumsy. Flavors of currant and plum give way to the subtler nuances of sweet oak and earthen spice.
Dried berry fruit, crushed rock, and sweet oak are first aromas to greet the senses. The fruit is dense on the palate, giving way to notes of tobacco and loamy earth.
The nose has a dusty/earthen quality accented by peppercorn and dark fruit. The palate is focused and linear, showcasing black currant with hints of licorice and spice.
