Ashleys love of wine came at a very young age. Her parents instilled in her the importance of cooking and eating together as a family and there was always a bottle or two of wine on the table. A career in the wine industry, however, was not her goal when she attended the University of Nevada, Reno. She received her degree in Chemical Engineering and planned to attend medical school upon graduation. After working in a hospital for four years, she decided that was not the route she wanted to take in life and surprised everyone by accepting a laboratory technician position at Owl Ridge Wine Services in Sonoma County.
Once at Owl Ridge, Ashley quickly worked her way up from Lab Technician to Lab Manager. She learned from some of the top Pinot Noir producers in California, such as Merry Edwards, Anthony Austin, and Scot Covington. Working for a custom crush facility with over 40 clients gave her the perspective and skills she needed to search for her next challenge.
That search landed Ashley at Mauritson Wines in July of 2007 as our Enologist. Ashley not only manages all aspects of the lab, but she also works side-by-side with the many custom crush clients. Within a short period of time, Ashley has taken on the full duties of Assistant Winemaker. She is very happy to be working for such a well-respected family and thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Zinfandel, as well as other varietals, from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma County.
Ashley was married in June of 2008. Her husband David also works in the wine industry. They enjoy backpacking, mountain biking, and traveling together. They recently returned from Thailand where they spent their three week honeymoon.
