2013 Mauritson Cabernet Sauvignon
Rockpile Buck Pasture, Rockpile Gloeckner/Turner Vineyard, Dry Creek Cabernet Block 3, Alexander Valley Cabernet Block D
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot
22 months in oak barrels, 100% French
Black cherry and boysenberry are overlaid by cocoa shavings, saddle leather and forest floor. The front palate shows off the structure of the vintage, yielding juicy tannins and great weight. Red dried fruit gives way to rich notes of mocha and toasted pecan. The dash of Malbec provides depth and concentration while the Merlot provides elegance worthy of its Bordeaux roots. With abundant tannins and well-balanced acidity this wine will age beautifully for the next 8-12 years.
The 2013 Mauritson Sonoma County Cabernet is restrained and complex. Taking advantage of our incredible diversity of fruit sourcing, we can hone in on the best that Northern Sonoma County has to offer. Each vineyard and each varietal add a nuance and layer to the blend, creating a wine that is subtle and over-delivers.
