2014 Mauritson Rosé
In 2014, 100% of our Rosé was made by whole-cluster pressing Rockpile Cabernet Franc. This practice produces lightly colored and delicate wines. The Rosé juice is fermented in stainless steel and then a portion of the wine is aged in neutral French oak. This wine has not gone through malo-lactic fermentation, preserving the bright, fresh, natural malic acid in the grapes.
This vintage has a beautiful pale pink color with a hint of garnet. The nose is a bouquet of fresh strawberries, lavender in bloom and wet stone. Vibrant and refreshing, this Rosé is focused on the palate. Flavors of high-toned red fruit give way to minerality and hints of cherry blossom. The wine is gracious on the front palate and maintains a linear characteristic, keeping it crisp and pure on the finish. Please enjoy this wine over the course of the next 12-18 months with lighter fare or sitting on the porch on a hot summer day!
