2015 Zinfandel, Pritchett Peaks
Pritchett Peaks Vineyard
15 months in oak barrels 100% French
The Pritchett Peaks are the mountains that form the eastern border of Lake Sonoma and are named after the Pritchett family, some of the early settlers in the Rockpile area. My family purchased this property which borders our original 1868 homestead, nearly 10 years ago. Located at approximately 1,250-ft. in elevation, at the top of the Rockpile ridgeline, this vineyard site represents a completely different terroir than our current lineup of Rockpile Zinfandels. Characterized by its Eastern sun exposure, this block only gets direct sunlight early in the morning and, with a nearly 30-degree slope, it has optimal drainage and wind exposure.
Our 2015 Pritchett Peaks Zinfandel has an incredibly enticing bouquet of baked blackberry cobbler, dried black cherry and a savory note reminiscent of molasses. It’s a tad bit riper than previous years but carries it beautifully. A rich entry of bramble, dried apricot and baked crushed almond complements the velvety tannins and delicious finish. This wine is quite approachable now, but would greatly benefit from at least one year in the bottle. Enjoy this wine over the next 6-9 years.
