2018 Mauritson Sauvignon Blanc
Dry Creek Valley
Dry Creek Valley
100% Sauvignon Blanc
50% Stainless Steel 50% Foudre fermented
Our Sauvignon Blanc is both classic in its freshness and nuanced in its aromas and flavors. Aromas of candied grapefruit, magnolia leaf, crushed river gravel, and hints of wild chamomile dance from the glass. The entry is bright and inviting. On the palate, complex flavors of candied lime, evening honeysuckle, and orange honeydew flesh give way to an energetic finish that is focused and fresh. Enjoy this wine with light appetizers, salads, seafood dishes or on its own on a warm summer evening.
Our 2018 Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc is sourced entirely from Hardie Ranch, which has been the back bone of our beautiful Sauvignon Blanc since its inception. Hardie Ranch is located in the northern part of Dry Creek Valley along the banks of Dry Creek where the soils are gravelly and deep, allowing for great water drainage and root penetration. The 2018 vintage was void of extreme weather events and the ripening period for Sauvignon Blanc allowed for long hang time and nearly perfect harvest selection. This harvest we had over 4 different picks to choose from during our blending of this estate Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc. Each lot was hand- harvested, whole-cluster pressed and fermented separately to achieve maximum depth and complexity. Some blocks fermented and aged in our 75hL oak foudre and others in stainless steel tanks.
The Mauritson Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc embodies our core philosophy at the winery: Wine is made in the vineyard! There is minimal oak and no malolactic conversion on this wine. It is truly one of the purest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc you will find in California.
