Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Often there is so much focus on the weather that leads up
to the ripening stage of the growing season that little
focus is given to the final 6+ weeks. This period can either
extend the window of the harvest period, with foggy
mornings and low daily high temperatures, or quickly
hasten it, with hot days and warm nights. In 2019, after
the onset of veraison, Mother Nature delivered such fair
weather that we had the pleasure of being able to delay
pick decisions by 6+ days, to encourage the nuances of
aromas and flavors. The result is a very nuanced and
detailed expression of all five traditional Bordeaux
varietals we grow in Rockpile.
Winemaker Notes
This youthful and brooding vintage of Buck Pasture has
intriguing aromas of ripe black fruits dusted with black
truffle, crushed anise seed, wild underbrush and sweet
forest floor. It’s dense and full-bodied, with sweet flavors
of creamed coffee grounds and hints of red fruits and
dried herbs. The balanced and lingering finish reveals a
wine that will yield great rewards with patient aging.
Enjoy over the next 2 to 12 years.
