Tasting Notes
On the nose, aromas of black cherry flesh, river
stone, crushed violent candy and tangerine rind
comingle with delicate sweet-soil tones. On the
palate, sweet red fruits, black truffle and a strong
mineral vein get support from a core of polished
tannins and freshness. This precise structure
provides an element of tension and purpose. While
just starting to show its layers of detail, this wine will
drink beautifully over the next 5-8 years.
Winemaker Notes
When bud break arrived in late March, we had
received only about 20 percent of our annual
rainfall. And coming off the previous dry season, it
was evident that early adjustments to crop levels and
managing the canopy for more dappled fruit
exposure would be beneficial, leaving the vines in a
strong position to finish out the growing season. Our
plush 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is the
result of these dynamics and decisions, and it shows
great detail, precision and sweetness of fruit.
